Schools days for local primary schools
The Junior Section has recently run two Schools Days for local primary schools where they have hosted children from North Oxford and Kidlington at BRN. It was fantastic to see so many children new to hockey not only enjoying playing but also improving so quickly! All the coaches were very impressed! Both days were hugely enjoyable for both the children and the coaches involved and definitely something to continue.
Nathan Monk, Rory Phibbs and Laura Scragg ran the first session for children from St Aloysius’ Primary School in May. After the session the feedback from the school included: The children really enjoyed their day and would like to do more things like that! …… It was a well organised day …. maybe it could be offered again next year to more than one year group.
This Friday, the Club joined together with Magdalen College School to run a coaching and playing day for West Kidlington Primary School. Todd Martin and Matt Bull from MCS worked with Andy and Sue Clark from Hawks in what proved to be a very enjoyable day especially as the sun shone! The Club are very grateful to MCS for their support not only for such fantastic coaching but also in providing transport for the day which enabled the school to take part. Again, we received great feedback from both the staff and children, all of whom were keen to come back and play more hockey.
Thank you to everyone who has helped to put on these sessions, particularly to Sarah Phibbs for liaising with the schools.
