This year’s Hawks Junior Festival provided an opportunity for even more juniors to play competitive hockey at the start of the season.  64 teams took part in the U8/ U10 and U12 age groups  with 640 children competing from hockey clubs around Oxfordshire including 18 teams from Hawks.  Hurricane Gonzalo threatened to disrupt proceedings earlier in the week but kept at bay and we enjoyed a sunny and breezy day with some fantastic hockey being played.  As ever, it involved a huge effort from many Hawks members….coaches, parents, umpires but also a great opportunity for some of our junior leaders to get involved in both the organisation and umpiring.  Special thanks go to Annabelle Asher and Charlie Colebrook who were on hand all day.  Thanks also to Jan and her catering crew  who managed to get through 22kgs of bacon and stacks of burgers for hungry players and spectators.  Final thanks to Tim Spittles for assisting in the control hut and keeping the timing going smoothly.  We managed to get through 136 games without any significant clashes.  We also managed to raise £460 for Helen and Douglas House thanks to the generous sponsorship from Kookaburra, Elmer Cotton, Prime Energy and Eskeez Base layer.

Whilst is it Festival we are all interested in the final scores which are set out below……over 1st places went to:Hawks x4/ Oxford HC x4/ Bicester x2/ Thame x1 and Witney x1
