Girls U12 A Team 3rd at South Regional Finals
The U12 Girls team gave a fantastic performance at the South Regional Finals and were 3rd in their pool group out of 7 just missing out on the semi finals by one point. It was never going to be easy with the first match against the mighty Surbiton and the 4-0 score deflated the team somewhat.
The girls consolidated though and had a hard fought goalless draws against Lewes and Maidenhead.
The turning point looks to have been the injury Tanya Scott sustained with a nasty knock to the ankle….never one to give up and stay on the side lines she raced on as ‘super sub’ against Teddington and scored a goal with her first touch and then another to beat them 2-0. It seemed there was no going back and we beat Romsey soundly 4-0 and then Marlow 2-1.
So 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. We lost out to getting into the semis by 1 point and but we managed to beat Marlow who then made it through to the national finals, beating Wallingford on the way. There was some really fantastic hockey played by all and the team will have learnt much from this competition.
