Richard Clarke memorial games Sunday 2nd June
I have agreed with Sarah and the England LX Club that we will host Richard's Memorial Day at BRN on Sunday 2 June, which is the date I had provisionally forewarned in my email last month. The day is intended to be an opportunity to remember Richard and all the selfless work he did on behalf of Hawks, to catch up with Sarah and the family, to play some hockey, and to socialise. There are not intended to be any formal proceedings.
I anticipate that there will quite a few LX members wanting to play, and as a minimum I have said that Hawks will put out a Hawks vets team of similar vintage to play an LX XI. But there will be plenty of opportunity for anyone to play, regardless of age and gender! I will liaise with the LX Club over the format of the hockey once I and they know how many people would like to play. We will use both pitches, and hockey will be played in the 12 noon until 3.00pm timeframe. So anyone wanting to play should plan to arrive around 11.30am.
The pitch side kiosk will be open (serving beer also) and a BBQ will be running throughout the day. Could I ask please that anyone wishing to play, or simply wishing to attend, email me by the weekend of 25th/26th May at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know, so that we can form an idea on numbers for both the hockey and the catering. I know that Sarah would like to see as many Hawks members as possible, so do please make a note of this date in your diary, even if you can only come along for part of the day. And please remember to email me to let me know if you would like to play some hockey.
With many thanks, and I hope to see you on 2nd June.
