Grand Masters World Cup starts today!

LogoHawks are delighted to be hosting the Grand Masters World Cup – which is for the Over 60s, Over 65s and Over 70s age groups. It takes place every two years with the last one being in South Africa in 2010 when 27 teams took part. Hawks, with our two new pitches, won the bid to host this year’s tournament and are using this to improve the already good facilities: new tiered seating area, extended decking and new hut for food/drink sales.

The tournament gets under way on Tuesday (14th)!! The Opening Ceremony is from 4.30pm, with matches starting on Wednesday, running from 9am to 7.30pm, finishing on Friday 24th August. Pictured are the Australians who arrived last week for some practice matches!

All the details are here - http://grandmastershockeyworldcup2012.org.uk/

Aussies training already....good luck boys!!There are a number of Oxford Hawks members involved – Tony Henman, Frank Nawn, Peter Curtis, Ian Sobey, Eric Best and Richard Clarke (note from editor – apologies if I have missed anyone!). Pop along to support them, enjoy the tournament, and admire some of the latest changes up at the pitch!
