Training is back from 29th March
Firstly, we hope you and your family are all keeping well. As you will be aware, restrictions are all being well going to be lifted gradually over the next few months – with a key one being Monday 29 March which is when “grassroots sport” can resume.
We are still waiting to hear from the government about whether car sharing will be allowed – as this will very likely be a big factor in whether league hockey can resume.
But for now, we are planning for the following:
Training will resume from Tuesday 30 March, on the usual nights and times! We will be in touch as soon as we know more about the league situations. If leagues cannot start up again, the club is exploring other alternatives for some competitive Saturday matches – watch this space!
The Junior Programme will restart with the first Tuesday session at 5.45pm on 30th March and the first Sunday session (usual times for age groups) will be the 4th April. This is of course Easter Sunday but we thought people might welcome the chance to get out and about regardless! We'll be running all junior sessions (Tuesdays and Sundays) until the end of April so the last Sunday session for juniors will be Sunday 25th April and the last Tuesday session will be Tuesday 27 April. We're making plans to run a summer programme from 1st May - 26th June, the details will be shared shortly. There will be no league or Cup matches played in this four week period, although there may be opportunity for some local friendlies to be arranged.
Sign up for training sessions will be done via the website and the Club Events page, using the same registration process as before. Note for Junior parents - there have been some changes made to the way juniors’ accounts are set up on the website so if anyone experiences any problems logging in, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be in touch as soon as we know more about the car sharing / league hockey situation!
All the best,
Oxford Hawks COVID Officer
