New times for Ladies' Training
Many of you played friendlies or inter-club matches on Saturday - I hope you all enjoyed getting back into the swing of Saturday hockey!
Apologies for the delay in confirming the details for Ladies Club training this season, but we have been waiting some confirmations from external pitch hirers to understand what our options were. The GOOD news is that we have managed to secure the 7pm – 9.30pm near pitch slot for the Ladies section on Wednesdays, and the times of training sessions will be as follows:
- Back To Hockey: 7pm – 8pm. Coach: Pollyanna Fitzgerald (note – this will not start until Weds 16 Sept)
- Ladies 6s and 7s: 7pm – 8.30pm. Coach: Tam Pascoe.
- Ladies 3s, 4s, 5s: 8pm – 9.30pm (note, L3s main training is Tuesday but they are very welcome to attend on a Wednesday too). Coaches: Emily Wilkins during September, then a rota with Andy Clark, Emily Wilkins, Tam Pascoe, Nathan Monk.
The reason we have had to split the sessions like this is because numbers were SO healthy last season. This new format means that firstly we have more space overall, but secondly every team has a new concept of “Team Time” for 30 minutes each week or every other week. This is a slot where you train as a squad and can work on critical things such as penalty corners, or team tactics. The overall session is also designed so that every squad still gets the chance to train with the team above them for a portion of the time.
This new training format will be effective from this week (i.e. Wednesday 9 September).
Registration for Training
Moving forwards, the google sheet process for training registration will no longer be viable as we will have around 15 training sessions a week once Junior training starts. We have therefore developed a far simpler process which was successfully trialled with the Ladies 1s and 2s last week.
To sign up, you now go to www.oxfordhawks.co.uk (we recommend to do this from your phone), and login to the members’ area (top right of screen). Here you will see a new area called “Club Events” and with just one click you register that you will come. If you later find out you cannot come, you must “cancel” your place.
Full details for iOS, Android and PC (including on how to pin this to your home screen as an “app”, and what to do if you don’t know your login) are in the user guide here.
We ask that you register your attendance before 12noon on the Wednesday to allow the coaches time to plan (as if numbers exceed 30 in any group, the session has to be planned in a different way as groups of more than 30 are not allowed to mix due to COVID restrictions)
Ladies 6s vs 7s on Saturday – how to sign up
There will be a L6s vs L7s game on Saturday at 4pm – if you would like to play please just use the new sign up process mentioned above – you will see the match in the Club Events area.
If any questions about Wednesday training, or the new registration process, just drop me a mail (email@example.com).
All the best,
Ladies Club Captain
