Junior Festival
Another very well attended Hawks Festival on a glorious sunny Sunday at BRN.
59 teams, under 8s, 10s and 12, from 9am to 6pm, everything ran like clockwork with a tremendous effort from all the volunteers doing sterling work! There was a quick 2 minute turnaround between each ten minute game, and after 116 matches we finished bang on time! Over the three age groups Wallingford and Oxford hockey clubs came out on top winning 9 of the 12 leagues between them; the Hawks boys and girls being gracious hosts. A great team effort all round by the club which was much appreciated by the comments from many of the visiting coaches and parents. Every player was awarded a medal - Jan was incredible with food, the under 14 & 16s plus the Ladies 1s, 2s and 3s all helped with umpiring and all sorts of jobs. Andrew Self from BBC Radio Oxford interviewed Sam Clark, Jessica MW, Odders, Paddy and a few players which will be aired on the evening sports show on Tuesday 30 October!
We have tried to list below all the people helping on the day doing umpiring, or being a runner or other important jobs – please let us know if anyone is missed and we will include you next week!
