Masters successes this summer

  • Masters Summer 2017 001

In August Steve Griffiths, Jim Felix, Tony Henman, Caroline Baggs and Chris Billington were up at the National Hockey Centre in Glasgow, for the European Grand Masters Hockey Cup! (check out the Hawks Facebook page here for lots of links to all the footage from the matches!)

The Grand Masters Hockey European Cup and Trophy Competition saw 54 teams compete against each other in 2 competitions held over 9 days on 4 pitches from the 19th to the 27th August 2017 in the fabulous city of Glasgow.

Tony won the O75s Men, Caroline won the O60s Women, Billers played for LX Reds and won the O60s Trophy, and Jim Felix won O60s cup and was a star in penalty shoot out v Netherlands.

Steve played for Wales O60s cup but didn't quite qualify for semis.

If you want to see the matches many of them were videoed live and can now be seen on YouTube.

Gary and PaulIn June Gary Mahon and Paul Dunleavy played in the Tilburg European Masters Cup. All was going very well until unfortunately Gary picked up a calf injury and so missed the final with England! Dunners and Ireland lost to the Germans with the final touch of the game, losing 3-2 and also a place in the semi finals! But apparently it was all good fun!
