A memorable summer for Rowena Hearn
Congratulations to Row Hearn (L1s), whose debut season with England U16s culminated with selection for July's Six Nations Tournament in Barcelona. Some inspiring and powerful hockey from all six teams rewarded the sun-seeking, Estrella-drinking travelling supporters. Avid readers of England Hockey's website news pages will know that England U16s came fourth, beating hosts Spain in a 4-3 thriller in front of a large and vocal home crowd, drawing with Ireland and Belgium when they should/could have won, and losing to Germany and the Netherlands (who took first and second places respectively). In the challenging heat, the England girls played with full commitment and were delighted to be awarded the Six Nations Fair Play Trophy.
Since Easter, Row has also played in the 3-match series internationals against the Netherlands in Utrecht and Germany in Hamburg - and captained the side that met Ulster U17s at Lilleshall
A memorable summer!
