Regional Masters 2016
A number of Hawks members have been taking part in the Regional Masters hockey over the summer. In the photo you can see Jim Felix and Chris Billington in South O60s men, who were runners up to West in the regional tournament at Cannock in June. Ian Sobey won a gold medal playing for South O65s at Cannock, and Linda Billington won gold playing in South O55s at Sheffield! Congratulations all!
Earlier in May, the Ladies South regional trials took place, and the following Hawks players were selected for the various age groups!
- Over 40s: Lucy Aldred and Kathryn Poulter
- Over 45s: Rebecca Black
- Over 60s: (right, from L to R) Phil Williams, Wendy Sobey, Deborah Evelyn, Caroline Baggs
In the O60s tournament, despite South's best efforts with drawn games against the North, West and East they lost their final game to the Midlands (2-1) so finished in joint 4th place (with East). West topped the table, Midlands were second and North 3rd. From Phil Williams’ personal perspective she was glad to have drawn with the West as her sister (older) was playing for them so family honours were even in that game - however she was the one who came away with the gold medal!
