It’s the Simpson show!! 10 goal thriller at the home of hockey

01 February 2014, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Men's 3s 9 - 1 Oxford Men's 3s

Hawks 3’s are in the middle of a quite astonishing season, played 14 won 14, goals for 81, goals against 13 with a goal difference of 68.  Our front two of Crockett and Tubbs (earlier season reference there) are both at the top of the goal scoring table with 22 and 20 goals respectively.

So an ok performance I think you would agree. This week saw the neighbours from Oxford Poly come over to the home of Hockey and in the words of Bjørge Lillelien that famous Norwegian Football commentator……… Gerrard Curran, , Andy Bowen, Andy Clark (YES), Simon Dawson (YES) Martin Hunter, Chris Mitty, Andy Wynd, your boys took one hell of a beating !!!!!

Star of the show and man of the match, Sideshow Bob who scored 4 and this with his hair growing throughout the game! You would have thought that this may have affecting Mr Burns (Andy Clark) the ladies 1st team coach who made only his second appearance of the season, he only plays against Oxford nowadays but not a jot of it. Mr Burns ran the midfield with impunity, never allowing Oxford to get into their stride.

Jimbo Jones (Neil Gallagher) opened the scoring, popping up at the back post to slot home after good work from Sideshow Bob (Tyler Simpson) Hawks were soon pushed back as Lenny Leonard (Dave Springer) playing out of position at right back, twisted and turned into trouble and Barney Grumble (editor) was well beaten as he fell over without making contact with the ball.

Sideshow Bob then continued to cause devastation at the back with 2 quick individual goals before Jimbo Jones made it 5 before half time.

The second half became one way traffic with Kent Brockman (Boots) popping up to make it 6 with Sideshow Bob adding a 7th. Oxford were beaten and it was left to Rodd Flanders (Jamie Clark) to score his first goal of the season and Todd Flanders (Angus Spittles) to complete the rout to make it 9-1.

It was however, unanimously agreed that the real star of the show was the Oxford Centre Forward Ollie Dale, who despite scoring 16 goals this season missed two of the most simple chances to score on a Saturday  since the closing of the Old Fire Station. The first when with the goal at his mercy he somehow managed to push it wide, the second a few minutes later he took the decision to strike first time only to kick it. Splendid stuff, he was seen later at Kebab Kid wondering how he managed not to score in such a target rich environment, “I thought I was in there” he said as he tucked into his chicken doner.
