Men's 2nd XI vs Oxford September 2011
17 September 2011, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Men's 2s 6 - 0 Oxford Men's 2s
6-0 win (Biggs x2, Craig, Chapman, Money and 1 more, sorry forgotten!)
Oxford Hawks 2's got their pre season off to a flier with a convincing win against a determined Oxford Hockey Club 2nd team. A mixture of youth and experience and welcoming back some old faces to the squad, the boys started brightly and dominated the 1st half.
Being able to blend the mix came quickly in the first half and some of the hockey played, left the crowd in applause as the goals flowed til half time. 5-0 up at half time, with some well worked team goals and some set piece play from Jack Biggs. With the return of Andy Brown marshalling the centre of defence, Hawks played with good structure and discipline throughout. The work rate of the token Brookes student Dan, were always causing problems to the Oxford defence.
The second half brought about an improved structure from Oxford and Hawks only went on to score 1 more through the ever vibrant Dan Money. A positive start with lots to work on and a good enjoyable team spirit from the start, long may this continue.
Man of the Match (voted for by the skipper as forgot to ask) - Andy Brown (a good, solid return)
