Ladies' 4s win and are back at top of the table!

25 January 2014

Ladies' 4s 2 - 0 Bicester Ladies' 2s

After the disappointment of a draw the week before and slipping from the top of the table Hawks ladies 4s went to Bicester for a late push back, determined to play the quality of hockey they know they are capable of as a team and come away with the win.

From the off Hawks worked the ball well between players to push forward and threaten the Bicester goal but for the majority of the first half the conversion eluded them. After Nathan’s work on the press this week the ball was predominately kept in Bicester’s half and Hawks were finally rewarded with a goal from a cross outside the D picked up and converted by Lizzie.

In the second half Bicester put more pressure on the Hawks defence who with good communication managed to defend as a team and limit the shots on goal. Any that did get past were swiftly despatched by Olivia in goal to keep a clean sheet who was voted joint MOM with Sophie T on the inner line for her linking play and some superb tackles. Hawks second goal came after Sophie B drove from outside the 25 to the base line and into the D to shoot from the most unlikely angle. Final score 2-0 to Hawks and back to top of the table!

Many thanks to the Cannon’s for coming to support and help with the subbing (especially as it was dark and raining!)
