It was a cold Saturday morning as a strong hawks lady's 4s 15 took on Henley to try and maintain their current top table position.
So the game began and it was looking pretty equal. Our defensive 4 displayed good discipline when tackling their quick forwards, marking many of them out of the game. Unfortunately sustained pressure from the Henley forwards resulted in Hawks conceding a goal. But, like the hawks 4s we all know, this did not lead to them putting their heads down! A sustained period of possession occurred through fantastic prescanning from the likes of Catherine Taylor, Vicky and Jane who moved the ball across the pitch until a gap became available. The gap came and a long lead from Katherine Hardstone lead to the ball being moved up the pitch, a through ball to Sandra and a strike on goal equalised the scores before half time.
In the second half hawks stepped up their game and the inners really pushed the ball high against a now very tired henley. The likes of Rosie and Sophie D both created many chances around the D but unfortunately Hawks couldn't score. The game ended 1-1.
Thanks go to the umpires (Charlie Baggs and Henley's umpire) for a good game.
A special mention to Sophie Bennett for all her support and managing our many subs!
