The Falcons started well against Reading Vets and were soon 2 goals in the lead through goals from Giles Roper and Angus Fletcher. Reading Vets, who have had a perfect start to the season winning all their games, dusted themselves off and took the game to the Falcons and not only pulled two goals back but took the lead and looked in control approaching half time. However just before half time Russell Warner's pin point cross was turned in at the near post by a diving Dave Hughes to bring the scores level going into the break.
Falcons welcomed Neil Biggs back from injury and he started the second half at the back with Dave Blomley. The Falcons probably controlled most of the second half but were caught on the break as Stuart Shepherd got his second from close range. This looked like being the winner until Man of the Match Angus Fletcher sneaked in and scored a deserved equaliser for the Falcons.
