Oxford Hawks Ladies' 1s made the relatively short journey to Southampton to face Trojans in their last Conference West game before the winter break. Hawks had a shaky start and had to call upon goalkeeper Jess Hudson early on for two good saves to keep the home side from taking the lead. After a while Hawks settled to their confident passing play and some openings appeared, however excellent defending from Trojans kept them out.
Shortly after the break Hawks suffered a blow when they lost Lucy Stewart with a suspected broken nose, but they continued to battle on with Kirsty Chapman and Briony Hearn in commanding form at the back. However 15 minutes from time Trojans took the lead with a deflected penalty corner strike leaving Hudson with no chance. Hawks response superbly and spent the remainder of the game pushing hard for the equaliser, but the home defended like "Trojans" and blocked everything that Hawks threw at them to hold on for the three points.
