The Mens 3rd XI, still have their 100% record in place, although they were made to work for the full 90 minutes on Saturday. In fact, it was not until late into the 3rd half did Hawks feel as though they had the job done.

It all started well when Hawks went one nil up when Torbjorn Turland, twisting and turning twice, trapping the ball and then *watting it into the corner for one nil.

Tyler Simpson made it two nil with a Lazarus style come back from his death bed before having to go off injured when he rose majestically high above the Wokingham defence only to see his header flash wide.

With a Marky Mark on the side we had good cover and although a watch malfunction dragged the length of the first half on a little, Hawks went into the break on 45 minutes with their 2-0 lead intact.

The second half continued in the same vein, with Hawks pushing forward with Bas Marshall gliding around the pitch and Rory Phibbs (MOM) driving up the left hand side and often being the first one back in defence to help Tim Martin who was doubling up as Sweeper and official time keeper.

The evergreen Mark Crowley then added a 3rd finishing off a great move which included Tyler beating all of the defence, a man walking his dog and a group of Cubs on a field trip before slipping the ball to the penalty spot when the salt and pepper haired practitioner made no mistake.

The confusion with the time continued in the second half with one Umpire auditioning for the Village People with a fine rendition of the dance associated with YMCA whilst the other when asked by Tim what the time was said 1.45, which was a little odd given it was a 12pm push back, this allowed Wokingham to take advantage of the situation and get themselves back into the game with 2 well worked short corners. Hawks were hanging on a little at the end but this was to be expected given we train all year for a hard 70 minutes which would have been enough for a 3 nil win.

Onto next week now, where we face British Airways at home, please check in at least one hour before and finish your drinks before security and kit bags will not be allowed on the pitch etc etc etc.
