Another nightmare start for Hawks, three passes from the push back ended with a short corner for Milton Keynes who duly scored to go one nil up within two minutes. From the restart Hawks got into their stride creating opportunities before MOM and in form Steve Kelly picked the ball up 3m in front of the goal, waited for the MK keeper to dive before calmly lifting the ball over him. Within 5 minutes of Hawks scoring, MK won their second short corner and regained the lead. Hawks enjoyed most of the possession but it was MK who threatened the Hawks goal after a few defensive lapses. Just before the end of the first half a ball drilled into the MK D was deflected by Richie Barlow passed the MK keeper. Half time Hawks 2 MK 2.
The second half was similar to the first, Hawks having the upper hand but failing to trouble the MK goalkeeper. A ball drilled into D was met by a sliding MK defender, after a short conversation between the umpires a penalty flick for a deliberate foul in the D was awarded. Dave Cresswell converted, with a flick in the middle of the goal. The goal gave Hawks confidence, the forwards penetrated with more purpose. Steve Kelly added his second after deflecting in a wayward shot and Dave Cresswell added his second with a unstoppable flick from a short corner. The icing on the cake was the 6th goal, Dom Roche fired the ball into the MK D from well outside the 23 m line, the MK keeper obligingly deflecting into his own goal. Final score Hawks 6 Milton Keynes 2.
