M6s Easy Early tour enjoy the samosas on offer at Harrow

09 November 2013

Men's 6s 3 - 1 Harrow Men's 2s

The M6s went to Harrow trying to avoid the banana skin of the team bottom of their league. However, it was clear from the start that it would take more than a banana skin to cause the M6s a problem.  The biggest barier they faced on route to the Harrow goal was the security guard on the school gate.  The first 35 minutes Hawks camped in Harrow’s half and Charlie Brewer didn’t lift his backside from the backboard.

However with 11 Harrow players randomly spread in their own D,  Hawks found it difficult to find the back of the net.  Hawks played good pretty hockey moving the ball from side to side and in general applying the “easy early” passing theme to create a number of good chances.  But those chances went begging through a combination of the Harrow keeper making more saves than Tim Krul and Hawks  shooting at him.

Then with the skipper becoming impatient a fine move emerged.  Dunn to Rogers, Rogers to Wells, Wells to Dodd, Dodd to Chambers, Chambers to Bentley, Bentley runs along the back line looks up picks out new boy Manson.  Manson slots into corner 1-0 Hawks.  The rest of the half was similar and  Manson helped himself to a debut hat trick.  At the other end Brewer pondered the meaning of life and why he allowed his mother to pack his kit.  Half time Hawks 3, Harrow 0.

The second half was much the same, only different! No goals for Hawks.  Some good hockey just no finish.

But then it is difficult to score with 23 players in one D one of which is a useful keeper.  Finally complete boredom caused a poor pass,  Harrow broke.  The umpire took pity on  Harrow and awarded a short corner for Hawks being from Oxford.  The Hawks back four with a combined age of close to 200 raced out for the corner but Harrow cruelly decided to shoot at the kicker-less foot of Brewer and an own goal ensued.  Charlie – next time check your kit before you leave home!!

Anyway things got better.  Harrow HC produced the best samosa’s this side of Utter Pradesh and a fine time was had by all watching the rugby.

Next up for the Easy Early tour  is a top of the table clash v Thame HC.  Come on Hawks members come and support your Club’s most successful and exciting team.  11 o’clock BRN on 16/11/13 is the time and place for the titantic clash.
