U16 boys draw at Cheltenham

10 November 2013

U16 Boys 4 - 4 Cheltenham Junior HC U16 Boys

The sun was shining on a bright yet cold afternoon in Cheltenham. Hawks assembled on the pitch in a good mood after the warm up with some casual banter going around. Hawks pushed back first and passed it around the back yet Cheltenham somehow managed to intercept it and score. Hawks bounced back from the hit and scored 2 goals, the first from Nick doing good play in the D and the second from Oliver with a nice run and sound reverse stick hit. Despite this Cheltenham got 2 more as well and ended the first half as 3 -2.

Nathan gave Hawks an inspirational speech whilst they refuelled and went straight back into it. Cheltenham had push back and some great hockey was played all around for some 20 minutes until Hawks lost their structure and dribbles became frequent giving Cheltenham a chance to steal the ball and score one last goal with the same player all through leaving the score as 4 - 2. This was a wake up call to the Hawks team and they finally strung together some good passes and Matt scored a beautiful goal, getting Hawks back in the game. With 2 minutes to go Hawks upped the intensity even more until Finn got a cheeky chip over the keeper from a scrap in the D, equalising the game and saving Hawks from defeat. With solid performances from the back and Jonny making some great attacking runs Hawks managed to finish the game in a draw 4 - 4 and Hawks left Cheltenham on a high.
