Wycombe came with a plan to make Hawks work really hard and gave the 3rds their toughest game of the season so far. With the average age of the oppo being about 12 it was always going to be a busy day for the 3’s, especially as Wycombe had a line up which included most of the cast of Glee at the back, One Direction in midfield and Little Mix up front.
With Hawks employing Humphreys in goal, Martin at the back, Poulter in the midfield and Dawson up front, it was a bit more like a Rolling Stones reunion for Hawks, but the supporting acts of our own Musical Youth soon pushed Wycombe back and with Noel Gallagher and Torbjorn Winter WonderTurland as the swing section in the middle of the pitch Hawks soon started to call the tunes.
0-0 at half time did not reflect the pattern of the game and the half time team talk by Simon Rattle Dawson soon had all members of the Hawks orchestra upping the tempo.
A couple of short corners early in the second half were converted by Tim Rice Chilvers with well positioned flicks seemed to take the fight out of Wycombe, Boots then continued his fine scoring record this season to remain the leagues top scorer before Bonnie Tyler Simpson provided the encore with the 4th. It was only left for St Winifred's School Choir to grab a consolation goal when their potty mouthed strikers short corner beat OMD’s Paul Humphreys low to his right.
Off to Maidenhead next week who picked up their first points of the season last week, so they should be in better spirits.
