Oxford Hawks faced Barnes in the early evening pushback at BRN, and were keen to get back to winning ways after the league break. They started well, controlling possession, but almost conceded an early lead as a Barnes striker ran through on goal. However player of the match Jess Hudson pulled off an outstanding save to keep the score goalless. Moments later, Hawks went down the other end and after good work on the left, a strike from Bex Oakes was deflected against the crossbar, but Abi Flory cleverly converted the rebound. The home side extended their lead ten minutes later, as Lucy Stewart finished a perfectly executed penalty corner routine.
In the second half, Hawks continued to dominate possession and almost scored again, after an excellent move ended with Becky Odlin rattling the crossbar again with a superb reverse stick effort. However the home side had to be on their toes as Barnes almost got a goal back, but the excellence of Hudson between the sticks yet again prevented Barnes from scoring. Fifteen minutes from the end Odlin won a penalty corner, and again it was perfectly converted by Stewart for her second of the match much to the delight of the strong home crowd. Stewart almost completed her hat-trick moments later after good work from Katie Hewitt, but it was well saved by the Barnes goalkeeper, and the score remained 3-0 to Hawks who were delighted with their performance.
