We began playing as the rain eased off with no GK.  Alex Cherry was playing twice and coming from BRN so she had zero minutes to get between games.  So we started without her and were very glad to see her roll up shortly after the start just as we successfully defended a short corner.  Special mention should be made of Julia and Becky Madden-Waite who did some crucial defending at this time.  Mel Thurley had some lovely touches and quick releases.  Becky Pentland had a good game at left half chasing back as needed.  Chloe Scragg surpassed herself with an excellent game at right half.  She was eventually voted player of the match for her energy and skills.

It was slightly confusing having both inners called Maddie.  Maddie Whitwell had a neat game but it was Maddie Garatt who got our goal with an on-target strike.  Olivia Strickland and Amelia Inglis were great on the wings and were unlucky not to score with several near misses.  Izzy Ashman was playing her first game for us and did very well.  Elly Gordon started out as CF but then switched to CH where she was a tower of strength building the play and chasing back to defend.

The final score was 1-1 which was a fair reflection of the play.  Thank you to Robbie and Jonny for umpiring.  They did very well. Thanks to Lisa Scragg for organising the umpires and some extra players. Especial thanks to Alex Cherry for playing twice having got soaked in her first game.  As we left the dugout it started to rain again…
