Witney were first to every ball and created a number of chances, with Linda Billington and the 2s defence on good form to keep the score at 1-1. However another penalty corner was awarded to Witney, which was converted making the score 2-1. The 2s created a few more chances during the 1st half but unfortunately were not able to utilise this. Witney scored another goal before half time, making the score 3-1.
The Ladies 2s started the 2nd half well, concentrating on pre-scanning and playing the early ball. However Witney scored a couple of goals in quick succession leaving the 2s trailing 5-1. The 2s started playing good passing hockey for the last 15 minutes of the 2nd half and were able to create a number of chances and generally caused hassle for the Witney defence. A great ball into the danger area from left half, Laura Scragg was pounced on by Kasey Butler making the score 5-2. Hawks continued to play some good attacking hockey, with Man of the Match, Saskia Delacave scoring a further goal to make it 5-3. The 2s were awarded a number of penalty corners as they desperately tried to get something from this game, however the score at the final whistle was 5-3.
The 2s have a week off and look forward to their next game against Chiswick on the 9th November.
