In the second game of the day Hawks took on a much stronger Cirencester team who had comfortably beaten Northants 3-0 earlier on. However the boys kept focused, an intense warm up led to the start of the game being dominated by Hawks, with Cirencester only getting small amounts of possession at a time. Unfortunately, Cirencester took the lead from a penalty flick in the first half.
After a helpful team talk from Nathan, the team came out ready to fight for the win. As the match became more heated, more fouls and big tackles were made. Most notably Tim Webster's American football style take out, but as said when leaving the pitch, he 'took one for the team'. Hope all is okay Tim. After that Hawks began to fight back, much to the annoyance of the Cirencester players. The boys stuck together and we gradually got ourselves back into the game. We found ourselves 3-1 up after some fantastic work from Nick, Robbie and Matt, holding the ball up in their half. Then after the final goal, Cirencester lost it,and it all ended rather heated, more so than it needed to be.
Sunday really showed what a great team we have here, with a lot of team spirit and guts.
Special thanks to Fergus for stepping in at goalie. We will need to carry this momentum onto Sunday against Wallingford.
