After an inspirational team talk with a theme of “easy early”, the Hawks 6th team then when on to play “fast and furious”. It was mostly one-way traffic in the first half and there were some excellent saves from the Gerrards Cross goalkeeper that kept the scores level until Hawks opening goal came from a good attack down the left and a tap in on the far post by Nick Mahon. After re-grouping at half time Hawks settled into a better passing rhythm in the second half which led to the youngsters opening up the Gerrards Cross defence and frustrating their more experienced players. Further goals followed with two from Charlie Stoker: a fine dribble up the left wing and a near post finish, and a strong reverse stick hit. Dan Bailey finished off a right wing attack with a goal in off the Keeper. Phil Nolan completed the scoring for Hawks. Hawks defended strongly throughout the game with some fine work at the back from Giles Oldershaw and George Chambers and an excellent senior debut from the goalkeeper William Hackett Gerrards Cross scored two late goals which was just reward for their hard endeavours throughout the game. Well captained by Nick Rogers.
