The Falcons beat Wokingham Vets handily by 7 goals to 2 at BRN and welcomed Tony Silman back to the Hawks and gave Fergus Flanaghan a debut in goal. Wokingham had been weakened as their skipper had to return to Reading to see his daughter in hospital, we wish her the best and hope her injury is not serious.
The Falcons started slowly and had to change their line up with Dave Hughes limping off in the first minute. Tony Silman opened the scoring after driving into the D and pushing firmly into the goal with a help of a deflection from a defender. Wokingham deservedly equalised when Roly Brookman turned in a rebound from Fergus Flanaghan's save.
The Falcons regained the lead as Rogan Meadows calmly controlled the ball and shot into the empty net. Russell Warner moved to the middle and Phil Dunnill pushed further up - this seemed to give the Falcons more control and Tony Silman added a third with a crisp hit and Phil Dunnill made it 4 shortly after rattling the post with a very well hit shot.
The Falcons added 3 more goals in the second half though Tony Silman, completing his hat trick, Giles Roper and Phil Dunnill. Alan Baines scored a consolation for Wokingham with good strike into the roof of the net.
