We won. We won 15-0. We won 15-0 in our first game of the league season. Bit one-sided, if truth be told.
That's the match report done then.
To give a bit of colour to the proceedings, it was great to see the development of our young players and Adam Scholey, who has played for us for a couple of seasons has progressed massively and is beginning to look a class act, with a touch of artistry about his finishing. In an amazing spell of play, Adam scored five goals in under ten minutes. We were indebted having Nobby available for a rare outing and with Wes Morrick ran the midfield, alongside Tom Forrester from Okehampton, who scored an almost forgotten hattrick, but again was dominant and is obviously a quality recruit to the club. Elliott and Jasper also got into the act with two goals each, although the only downer of the day was Jasper's new stick, which hasn't quite found its middle yet. Even centre back Rob Homes got into the act, but although scoring an excellent goal, ruined it with his over-exuberant celebration. Tom Biggs and his quartet of defenders were occasionally called upon, even having to extinguish their pipes and curtail their bridge hand for a brief moment to repel a Henley short corner. Oh, we were playing Henley by the way. Young Tim Webster fitted in well and Marky Mark conducted a relaxed warm up for his main game with the Senators. Tougher games to follow no doubt, but a decent start. Sorry to find that my wife's stick was a bit too heavy for Wes, but glad that he found a more suitable wand.
