Having not played at Henley for a long time I must admit I was not looking forward to the hard and sandy pitch but to my surprise the surface had been re-laid which suited our fast flowing hockey.
Within 4 minutes Lizzie got a well deserved goal. Hawks were always in control with Vicki Martin holding the middle of the pitch with style and composure; a treat to watch. With some awesome leads and commitment from the forwards the second goal was always on the cards. This is where the problem lies. Was it Bonnie, Bethany or Lizzie; sorry not sure. Just before the first 35 minutes were up Henley managed to get one back so 2.1 at half time.
My recollection of the second half is somewhat vague. I can recall that we played some great hockey with lots of calling and commitment. Henley had a few key players but they were no match for the mighty 4’s.
The final whistle went and the score was 4.2. So sorry to all that scored as I can honestly not remember the correct order but sure you will chastise me on Tuesday for not mentioning you on the report. I think Lizzie got two which would make sense as she got Man of the Match (well deserved).
Sorry that the report is not very scintillating but to be honest too engrossed in the match to takes notes!! Maybe I could make the cake or wash the shirts next time; much more my sort of thing.
Well played girls a very pleasurable match and lots of good banter.
Post-script: Er, thanks for that Jane, you can definitely wash the shirts next time ;-). If anyone is confused, the final score was definitely 4-1! It would have been 4-2 but thanks to Olivia's fantastic dive across the goal to save a fast and direct shortcorner shot we kept their goal count down to 1.
