Ladies 2s come away with 3 points after first away game

28 September 2013

Ladies' 2s 3 - 0 Milton Keynes Ladies 1s

The Ladies 2s had their first away game of the season against Milton Keynes. The 2s started off well, immediately putting pressure on the MK defence with some great skill and pace from Inside Forwards, Maisie Robertson and Jo Tolson. The 2s were awarded a number of attacking corners early on in the game but the score remained goalless. However Hawks kept the pressure in MK's D with Claire Werlinger getting the first goal.

MK created a couple of chances in the Hawks D however the 2s defence worked well together to keep the score at 1-0. After some great attacking team play, the 2s were awarded a penalty corner which was converted by Jess Oakhill to make the score 2-0.

At half time, our coaching entourage consisting of Andy Warne, Nathan Monk and Lisa Scragg provided some wise words so the 2s were inspired to go out and step up their game.

MK started off the 2nd half well and put pressure on the Hawks defence, however Linda Billington made some essential saves to keep the score at 2-0. The 2s stepped it up and played some good hockey, creating a number of attacking chances. Man of the Match, Maisie Robertson worked tirelessly in midfield, showing her vision on the pitch and individual skills while making life difficult for the MK defenders. Laura Scragg played in a great ball to the back post where Kasey Butler had lead away from her defender to score the third goal. The game finished at 3-0, well played the Ladies 2s!
