Not the best weather for our first friendly but at least availability was good.  Sadly no one told the goalkeeper where we were playing, so we started on the pitch under a new Captaincy with some familiar faces and some new.

We started with 11 players on pitch and did a good job at keeping the ball out of the D. We successfully defended two short corners without a GK but most of the play was in the attacking half.  Lots of players in new positions with Buffy doing some great distribution at CH, and Lotty on the right wing and new player Josie playing right inner so it wasn't long before they got it into the D for the new CF Becky to make a strike straight onto the keeper’s pads. We kept pushing hard but a lovely cross from Lotty did not meet Becky’s stick, so next time around Lotty made a fab strike at goal and we were one up.  Megan Magrosky arrived and came onto the pitch with about 1 minute to go to half-time.

The game continued with a happy Hawks team but then suddenly Buffy went down injuring her ankle badly so was taken off, Gail stepped up to CH and we continued strong with some lovely passes down the left between Issy (LI) and Emily (LW) a pass to Becky was a strike at the goal put sadly hit the post.  We kept attacking and then suddenly Emily had the ball near the goal and to her surprise and shock she slipped it passed the keeper. So with 2-0 up we were very relaxed, but we still wanted more and there was still one more forward left to score, we kept attacking hard and there was some great defending from all the backs with Emma and Gabs making some great runs and finally Becky has the ball and takes a shot at goal which passes the keeper but there was still one defender behind her and Lotty slips the ball onto her foot, so we're awarded a penalty flick! Becky steps up to the P spot (anything for a laugh) the goalie says she's not done this much before, Becky points out she's never done this. So she stands poised and then with a quick flick the goal keeper gets a touch but it still slips in to a very happy Becky's surprise. So we finish our friendly 3-0 and hope we can perform like that during the league.

Player of the match was joint between, Becky, Josie and Gabs
