The Ladies 2s were nervous going into the game against Bracknell as they knew that winning this game would guarantee their league win and promotion.
The 2s started off well and maintained possession, while the forwards worked hard to create chances in the Bracknell D. Emily Smith caused problems for the defence with her usual skillful ways but Bracknell defended well to keep the score at 0-0. An early short corner was awarded and Kara Kerr's straight strike dribbled over the line to give Hawks a 1-0 lead. This gave the 2s a lot more confidence and they continued to put Bracknell under pressure in all areas of the pitch.
Bracknell passed the ball well and got into the Hawks D but the defence dealt with this in a calm and composed manner.
Emily Smith got the second goal with a great strike from the top of the D. With the score at 2-0, the 2s worked on their passing and everything they have done in training this season.
Bracknell started off the 2nd half well and were in the Hawks D immediately. However Linda Billington was on top form and kept the score at 2-0. The third goal came about from a superb cross from Laura Scragg, who was just outside the 25. Jess Oakhill timed her run perfectly and tapped the ball into the goal, past the Bracknell keeper.
Bracknell scored a goal with 10 minutes remaining but the 2s worked hard to the final whistle.
The final score was 3-1, which secures the league win and promotion with one game to go! Well done to the entire 2s squad as everyone has contributed massively to the success of the team this season! Also, thanks very much to Andy Clark, Andy Warne and Nathan Monk for all their assistance and support this season.
