Hawks made the short the trip to Milton Keynes for a must win game for the home team. It was Hawks who started on the front foot pressuring MK from the whistle. Hawks had plenty of opportunities before Sam Chilvers opened the scoring with a back hand shot. After 12 minutes Hawks went further ahead, Dave Cresswell’s initial drag flick was saved by the keeper but he made no mistake in smashing in the rebound. Steve Kelly hit the post and another deflection went agonisingly close. Hawks really should have been 4 : 0 up within the first 15 mins. Hawks took the foot of the gas and MK came back into the game, a defensive lapse presented the MK forward with the ball on the top of the D who made no mistake in hitting the backboard. A lost ball in midfield resulted in MK getting the equaliser. Half time Hawks 2 MK 2.
MK continued the latter end of their first half form into the second, Hawks struggling to find their passes. With MK gaining confidence they went ahead, a cross ball into the D hit a Hawks foot leaving a MK forward to finish from close in. Dave Jones made a number of fine saves in the Hawks goal. With 2 minutes to go a mazy run from MOM Tom Godding was with rewarded with a short corner. Dave Cresswell stepped up dragging the ball hard into the corner. Full time Hawks 3 Milton Keynes 3
