Fresh from the win at Staines, Hawks were keen to avenge the 4 : 3 defeat earlier in the season at Sevenoaks. Hawks started briskly moving the ball around the pitch but again had trouble in the final third often losing possession with little outcome. Sevenoaks took the lead after winning their one and only short corner of the game. With Phil Hargraves still not being called on to make a save, Sevenoaks went further ahead, a forceful run by a Sevenoaks attacker was rewarded after his speculative push into the D hit the side of Ethan Chapman’s foot ending up in the corner of the Hawks goal. Hawks had all the possession but could not get the elusive goal. Half time Hawks 0 Sevenoaks 2.
The second half was all Hawks with MOM Andy Seiman controlling the midfield, opportunities came and went. Hawks did pull one back from a short corner despatched by Dave Cresswell. A couple of outstanding saves by the Sevenoaks keeper kept their slender lead. Hawks enjoyed all the possession but could not break down the Sevenoaks resilience. Totally against the run of play, a rare foray into the Hawks 25 saw Dan Money deflect the ball into his own goal from a cross. With 15 minutes to go it still should have been Hawks game, Dave Cresswell pulled another one back from close in. Hawks pressed, Sevenoaks counter attacked, Phil Hargraves made a number of great saves despite being outnumbered by the Sevenoaks forwards. It was a game Hawks should have won by some margin, but unfortunately another loss by a single goal sees them sitting lower in the league than their ability on paper suggests.
