Hawks U18 Girls entertained Cheshire based side Wilmslow on Sunday in the quarter final of the EH Plate competition. Hawks started brightly and could have gone ahead two or three times in the first ten minutes however Wilmslow's defence remained strong until Abi Flory shot from just inside the circle to beat the keeper and put the home side in the lead. That lead was soon extended when a fine attack by Hawks resulted in Lucy Poffley being fouled in front of goal and Flory converted the resulting flick. Wilmslow put pressure on the Hawks midfield in the first half but could not match the Oxford team in creating chances.
The second half at times saw Hawks struggle to retain possession but the game was put beyond doubt when Sophie Bennett scored a third goal and put a delighted Hawks team into finals day at Old Loughtonians on 14th April. The team will play the semi-finals then either final or third / fourth place play off on the same day. Many thanks to all those who watched and supported the girls.... if you fancy a road trip to Essex, we'd love to see you there!
