Hawks assembled the walking wounded for the clash against lowly Eastbourne, Matt Richardson for his first game back after breaking his hand and skipper Kieran Roche straight off the osteopaths table. Young Barney Wilkinson welcomed to give some legs up front. Hawks enjoyed early possession but lacking care in the final third, too many times the ball was given away cheaply. A couple of scares were thwarted by Phil Hargraves in the Hawks goal. After 15mins man of the match Sam Chilvers picked the ball up on the right, jigged around a couple of defenders before having his stick taken away from behind. Charlie Ellison made no mistake of converting resultant penalty flick. Hawks enjoyed possession and could have gone further ahead only the outside of the post prevented Tom Godding opening his account. Eastbourne drew level from a break away, scoring from a cross. Half time Hawks 1 Eastbourne 1
The second half was predominantly Hawks but lack of finishing kept Eastbourne in the game. Against the run of play Eastbourne capitalised from a missed stop at the top of the Hawks D which eluded Phil in goal for an easy tap in for lone attacker. Despite wave after wave of attack Hawks were unable to get the elusive goal. Final score Hawks 1 Eastbourne 2.
