Ed Bray has a day of mixed fortunes as Mens 4s defeat Aylesbury

Men's 4s 4 - 0 Aylesbury Men's 3s

Ignore the scoreline, this was a really competitive game against the league’s bottom-placed team, who showed more attacking resolve than Bicester the previous week. Indeed, in the first half Aylesbury had the better chances and Tom Biggs was forced into a couple of excellent saves and nil all at half reflected the game pretty accurately. Having most of the possession, we didn’t create any corners in the first half and decided to change this and we were soon rewarded as Bas drag-flicked one into the roof. This goal deflated the ‘Ducks’ as we began to overrun our opposition and Robin was on hand to finish off a couple of excellent moves. Ed Bray scored our fourth and celebrated with a yellow card for not retreating 5 metres, which the umpire appeared decidedly keen to give. Still, the good doctor was man of the match for me.

For this game, we welcomed Mark Lumb and Dom Maclachan who joined our ranks and fitted in seamlessly and we’d like to thank whoever it was in the Mens 2s who played before us and saw fit to relocate the brand new set of sponsored white team shirts and bag into the changing rooms and leave them there! Lucky that Boggs Snr is one of the unusual few traditionalists these days that likes to shower after matches and found them, abandoned …
