After demolishing Maidenhead Magicians before Christmas (admittedly with billy the sheep), the Mens 5's were told by the skipper that they had drawn with title chasing Eastcote, and so wouldn't be an easy win - and so it proved.
With 70% of the game, Hawks should have been 4 up by half time, but the rather disconsolate trudge up to the goal at half time said it all really.
This was a competitve game of hockey, which, as it went on, looked increasingly like a draw, and in their one shot at goal in the second half, the opposition conjured up a win from nowhere..
Whilst it was enjoyable and played in great spirit, and umpired really well by Dave Wells and Phil Hargreaves, the Hawks 5's need to get back to quick simple passing and get more outcome in the opponents D, for this is where they failed against Maidenhead.
Man of the match Rob Home for managing to keep his mouth shut and playing like a man possessed especially whilst suffering from man flu.
