Fielding a full squad it was always likely that the team would be good enough for the win and so it proved. Amersham and Chalfont pressed hard all over the pitch, but huffed and puffed against the better players wearing the Hawks shirts.
Neil Gallacher opened the account playing at Centre forward, and clearly wanted to get the game over early with a Burns supper looming and the shirt washing task to look forward to. His topped shot foxed everyone and the ball squeezed over the line.
With the pace of Spittles causing havoc it was not long before he added another and Hugh Gordon finished well to make it 3.
At this point the rotation policy caused the tiring legs of Chalfont to resort to stronger tactics to stem the tide-patience and cool heads were needed. However it was a good spirited game overall and was put beyond doubt with a penalty flick from Turland after a foot on the line from a short corner and Dawson continued his scoring ways to wrap the game up 5 goals to nil. A big thank you to Jonny Atkins in goal who managed 2 touches all game but performed both with aplomb and kept a clean sheet!
The man of the match could have gone to anyone in the squad but Andy Clark rightly edged it.
