Hawks travelled to the new pitch location used by West Hampstead and within touching distance of Wembley Stadium knew they had to be disciplined and professional, particularly as the squad was only 12 players.
And so it proved. In a hugely enjoyable match both sides played their part. However Hawks had the solid defence led by Josh Turner and Sean Cox, and the cool finishing of Dawson, Torbs and Gallacher.
The first half saw both teams press and the game swung from one D to the other. A superb finish by Dawson put Hawks ahead and Torbs made it 2-0 before half time. However Humphries was called upon to make 2 great saves and on the balance of play the result was flattering.
However the 2nd half demonstrated the difference in the teams. It is unfair to pick out any one individual as everybody played well and the Hawks midfield simply prevented West Hampstead getting back into the game.
In Torbs playing at inside right they had the match winner. He had earlier set up the goal for Dawson and did the same for Gallacher and Dawson again whilst also scoring again.
So with 2 goals and 3 assists he picks up the man of the match and Hawks set the tone for the season.
