Ladies 3s finally get a well deserved win!!

12 March 2022, 11:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 3s 3 - 0 Maidenhead Ladies 2s

This week the 3s took on 11th place Maidenhead with aspirations of repeating their 3-0 victory away last time. The sun was shining, the stands were full (ish) and the girls were feeling fired up. It was end to end in the first half with some very promising play but nothing converted by the time the half time whistle went. Hawks felt momentum was with them and it was only a matter of time, we just had to trust the system.
Again, some positive build up play for the girls with the whole team putting a big shift in to get the ball up the pitch. After a brilliant break by Becky there were screams for a penalty flick after she beat the keeper but it was stopped on the line. Alas, it was not seen… but a short corner swiftly followed and a straight strike from top D was slotted in the bottom left hand corner, Hawks 1-0. This was the confidence the girls needed and not before long there was another goal from open play, Hawks 2-0. The girls were feeling invincible and the pressure was kept high keeping the opposition pinned in their own 25. Multiple opportunities followed and a final goal was bumbled in from another straight strike (not as clean as the first), Hawks 3-0.
Great shift from all and the winning feeling is something we’d been craving.
