Ladies' 1s in wonderful win away at Cheltenham

19 March 2022, 14:00, Balcarras SC

Ladies' 1s 2 - 1 Cheltenham Ladies 1s

Ahhh back at it again, away day in Cheltenham. First things first, my day started off with at 10:15 meet at Hawks where Hibby kindly picked me up, we then drove 40 minutes to where we thought we were picking Lydia (our GK, a pretty important player) up from, turns out we had been driving 40 minutes in the wrong direction and she was only 10 minutes away from hawks, so back we drove 30 minutes to get her, to drive another 40 minutes to Cheltenham’s pitch. As you might’ve guessed, Hibby was DOD.

It was a lovely sunny away day and as the match began, spirits were high. We were playing well with lots of patience around the back, slowly but surely increasing our confidence until a beautiful ball from the back goes down the line into Cita where she smashes it across goal where Kim gets a beautiful deflection off (first goal of the season and myyyy was it sexy). This meant we went into the 2nd half 1-0 up. We had lots of excellent chances and the team was working together really well. There was a beautiful ball into me (hi it’s Lexie) and I was able to have a 1 on 1 with the goal, unlike every other time, I was able to win a P-flick which Bex took and smashed into the back of the net, making it 2-0. In the last quarter of the game there was a break from Cheltenham and after amazing tracking back from Ruth, a foul occurred (apparently) and unfortunately a P-flick was awarded the other way … which they scored … making it 2-1. Despite this, we kept our heads up so well and played it nice and safe keeping possession while still managing to have incredible opportunities right up to the final whistle.

End score was 2-1.

Lucy was awarded MOM for her amazing work in the midfield!

Until next timeeeee
