2's and Marlow share the spoils again in a cracking game

Men's 2s 1 - 1 Marlow Men's 1s
Let's not beat about the bush here. There's no denying that Hawks 2's v Marlow has acquired a very special importance in the 2's fixture list over several seasons but especially so this year as both sides are still undefeated in the League.
Their first meeting this campaign finished 3-3 in Buckinghamshire before Christmas after a match which could have gone either way and there is, I think, a measure of mutual respect, one side for the other. Having said that Marlow actually believe they're better than us - well you have to don't you!! No shock there even though they are clearly delusional. (just joking!!).
Obviously we know we are better than them.
However, one thing that does surprise is that after several seasons of routinely titanic matches these fiercely contested encounters continue to be played in an excellent spirit and long may that continue.
Saturday was no exception and that's all I'm going to say.
For my money this was our best match of this long season so far. Fittingly it ended all square again - 1-1 this time and neither side could complain at the result. No quarter was asked or given and only two cards issued. The sun shone as well.
A terrific afternoon and an object lesson in how good a spectacle a game of hockey can be.
Simply a pleasure to witness as the photos attest. Thank you Clive Jones for them.
