Ladies O45s win 7-1

It really was a game of two halves. After a delayed start Hawks took the game to the opposition but although Hawks had a number of circle penetrations there were very few outcomes. The defence battled which frustrated the Hawks attack. But it was only a matter of time after a well worked penalty corner that Sophie found the back of the net. The plan was to build on the goal but A&C managed to level the score. With the ball near the Hawks 23, A&C pressurised the defence and won the ball to find an attacker free in the circle who fired the ball home. Game on! Lots of attacking for Hawks, the possession eventually turned into a second goal for Hawks by Rebecca. Things then got a little messy, too much ball turnover, not enough switching, Hawks needed to regroup.

Half time team talk was about doing things simply, moving the ball, making connections ……… and of course, scoring more goals. And the team delivered with five goals and none in return. Kelly got a hattrick, Rebecca added her second and Sherene got on the score sheet too and all without reply. A&C did find the back of the net in the last few minutes but the whistle had already gone for a penalty corner so the match finished 7-1. Kelly was voted MOM, can her baking live up to Linda’s?
