L5s come away with important win in hard fought match v MK

05 March 2022, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 5s 2 - 1 Marlow Ladies 4s

It was always going to be a hard day at the office for Oxford Hawks 5?s as they took on second in the league Marlow but they had their lucky charm Karen Easterbrook !

The game started with Hawks being on top for a long spell but not converting lots of great play. Despite a dominant 10 mins in the Marlow half, with several shorts they could not find a goal.

Marlow came back hard and with some quick play found our goal mid-way through the first half, 1 - 0 to them. Hawks dug even deeper and managed to equalise, converting a well worked goal which Sophie put away with muster before the half time whistle.

Marlow came out strong in the second half, but Hawks were determined too and scored early in the second half to take the lead with a Sherene goal. The defence worked hard to keep Marlow out,  defending many short corners and strong attacks. Hawks had plants of chances on goal to and out lucky charm was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

When the final whistle blew it was a glorious three points to the mighty Oxford Hawks which propelled us from the bottom of the table to 9th place, but still lots of hard work needed in the last four games to ensure we stay out of relegation!

There were votes for several people but Man of the match went to Kelly Fogden-Harris who will try not to forget cake next week !
