A pointless, cold day out at Reading for the L4s this weekend

05 March 2022, 13:00, Reading HC

Ladies' 4s 1 - 5 Reading Ladies 3s

Oxford Hawks Ladies 4’s were away at Reading playing Reading Ladies 4s.  They knew it was going to be a competitive and busy game for both the defence and forwards but arrived with great optimism.

In the first half there was some great passing on both teams, with all players putting together some great short sharp passes to outwit the Reading team. Reading were strong in the attack and turnovers and won a number of short corners which Hawks defence managed keep out which allowed hawks to go on their own attack. It was a very back and forth first half, and Reading stole a goal in a short corner half way through the first half, after having one already disallowed.

Just before half time, there was some great passing between the Hawks which set up Molly to get a superb goal, first time volley rebound just before half time to make it 1-1 at the break.

Hawks were confident going into the second half, but Reading came back strong and Hawks defence were challenged on many occasions, unfortunately Reading scored a further 4 goals.

Hawks played well, with their keeper Teyha Beighton making some great saves. The inners and forward line put in a great effort to also track back and defend and offer some outlets for the defence.

The whole team were disappointed by the outcome but have come away with their heads held high and are ready for their next game to try and work on some things which didn’t quite work out for them this weekend.
