Ladies 2's continue their strong run of form with another win
19 February 2022, 14:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 2s 5 - 1 Bournemouth Ladies 1s
Hawks Ladies' 2s despite storm Eunice causing torrential rain and winds arrived at Hawks at Saturday lunchtime ready to play.
Luckily despite the conditions previously that day it was a dry, rain free game which was most unlike the recent weather. Hawks started well with many attacking plays and Helen from a hit at the top of the circle, secured our first goal. We continued to build connections throughout the game and Lili Hargreaves scored 2 goals, one of which was a skillful flick through the Bournemouth keeper. The chances Bournemouth got on the break were managed very well by Pagey who was MOM for her excellent saves.
Then after having an informative and motivating halftime chat done by Wilko, who had made a return after catching covid, Hawks ladies 2s continued to put more and more pressure on Bournemouth, perfecting our press making it hard for Bournemouth to outlet the ball and progress up the pitch. Then, due to passing around the circle, Phoebe on her debut for the 2s carefully pushed the ball from the baseline making it sneak into the goal. Our last goal was scored from a short corner where Caro did a hit from the top of the circle which Odders, who was DOD for forgetting the socks that she forgot were the ones she was wearing, deflected into the net. In the last few minutes of the game Bournemouth scored leaving the score at 5-1 for Hawks. Another good win but as Wilko says ‘the job is not done’.
