Saturday turned out not to be the best day. With Wales winning at rugby and the Irish getting stuffed by the French what else, you may ask, could possibly have gone wrong.
Let me tell you.
Oxford Hawks mens second XI failed to turn up for their League match v Reading 2a's until 12.40 p.m when they should have been there at 11.30 a.m for push back. Failing to show up until 60 minutes into the game meant they were 2-0 down and facing almost certain defeat. In the end , once they had decided to contribute to the proceedings on the pitch, they scored 2 goals (Henry Taylor and Dan Andrews) and had enough pressure to have snatched a win but it was not to be.
I won't attempt to explain what happened save to say it was a car crash and as poor a performance (by a distance) as I have seen all season.
As I sit here writing this I can't help but reflect I do this for enjoyment.
