Ladies' 5s lose out in away match tussle
05 February 2022, 15:00, Cantley Fields
Ladies' 5s 0 - 2 South Berkshire Ladies 2s
It was a cold, windy afternoon as Hawks L5s went out onto the open pitch at South Berks, after a long journey. South Berks were putting pressure on us and hungry for goals from the first whistle. Hawks took a little time to settle down and thankfully one strike into the net from South Berks was disallowed early on. Hawks L5 picked up their game and connected well as the first half progressed and there was great linking play up to Hawks attacking D.
In the second half, South Berks kept the pressure up, pressing high at their goal end. Hawks conceded the first goal after a sideline hit into the D found an unmarked player on the back post. Hawks L5s had a good run of attacking play and a few close attempts as the game had an end-to-end period. Emily was unlucky not to even the score. Purdy had a fantastic game - clearing multiple short corners during both halves. Unfortunately, in the last 2 minutes, a strike from the top of the D passed through the defender and South Berks scored a second goal - just before the whistle.
Evie was player of the match for her hard work in both attack and defence, and some good link-up play
